Lower Primary Summer School 2016 Teacher (March-May)

My "Spelling" technique: At the start of Summer School, I requested our stationery room's in-charge to laminate bond papers to create mini-whiteboards. (Then, I cut off the 4 corners from every 'whiteboard' because they were sharp enough to pierce the skin.) Before I start every unit, I let my students (Level 1/Primary Beginner) color, cut, and stick 'boxes of words' onto their Writing notebooks (coloring and cutting can help enhance kids' Fine Motor Skills). After that, they write such words ten times each (a way to practice spelling and to improve handwriting as well) on the same notebook. Everyday, we practice Spelling further via two more ways: They spell three different words 'open notebook' (by 'looking' at the words before writing down on the mini-whiteboard).Afterwards, they spell from memory, 'closed notebook', and the first to spell correctly gets five points. This technique has been effective. My students have learned to spell more words, adding to their overall noteworthy and remarkable progress.
